Challenge
Plate & Fork, a rising star in the online food delivery sector, was grappling with a saturated market and dwindling user retention. Their platform, while functional, lacked the intuitive design and engaging features that modern food enthusiasts sought. The challenge lay in reimagining the platform to stand out in a competitive landscape and resonate with users.
My Role
As the lead digital designer for Plate & Fork, my objective was to breathe new life into their online presence. In collaboration with their culinary and tech teams, I introduced interactive menu displays and a more intuitive order process. The aim was to create a seamless and delightful ordering experience, where users could explore diverse cuisines, get personalized recommendations, and track their orders in real-time. Throughout the redesign, I prioritized maintaining the unique brand voice of Plate & Fork, ensuring that the platform's essence was preserved while introducing modern digital enhancements.
Final Thoughts
Collaborating with Plate & Fork was a culinary and design adventure. The revamped platform not only saw an uptick in user engagement but also garnered rave reviews for its innovative features and user-centric design. It was a rewarding experience to merge the worlds of gourmet food and digital design, and the success of the project underscored the importance of a well-crafted online experience in today's food delivery market.
Problem: Nonlocal Users
My team and I were not local to Nigeria—we would face difficulties contacting and researching users.
Despite constraints, what steps did I take to design for end-user needs and pain points?
Used existing local/nonlocal user research
Conducted local/nonlocal user interviews
Met weekly with DFN's stakeholder and SME
Analyzed competitors and market solutions
